Let’s say trump’s coup worked

Pence does not certified the election, new pro trump state delegates from states Biden won are accepted and the Supreme Court rules in favor of trump or something similar and Trump stays in office. What would have happened next? Does everyone just go along with it? If there were protest trump would have deployed the army and friendly states’ nationals guard to restore order with mass arrest. Maybe there are no protest? How do you see it playing out?

Civil War

No, I'm not kidding

And they are putting the mechanisms in place right now in plain sight to overturn free and fair elections

Americans need to wake the hell up. You're either on the side of Democracy or you aren't

I think most people would just go along. It would have the air of legality to it, and most people just don’t pay much attention. If they did, we wouldn’t be where we are.

Sadly, I think this is what would happen. Though there'd be some people continuing to object. If they start to end up in jail, it's possible more Americans would wake up and get angry...but sadly I'm not positive of that.

+1

There would not be an immediate Civil War. No way.

Trump would then be an unconstitutional ruler of the US. Ivanka would be Vice=President and heir. The rest, as they say, is history.

We would have rule by fiat. Anyone speaking out of turn would be punished. Forums like this one shut down, etc.

The US would then be in an unholy alliance with autocrats around the world serving their oligarch masters. In the US, that means the Koch's, Prince's etc. The little people are chattel to serve the oligarchs and business elites.

We have seen many dystopian movies like this. Dark times indeed.

And...we are not out of the woods on this.

^^This.

There would be a lot of disappearances. Special “police forces”. Special prosecutors.

nope. this is why people are screaming about the new laws in R states and the placement of Trumpian hacks into positions of power in the election process.

The pieces are being put into place.

This is why people are beyond pi$$ed at Manchin and Sinema for their nonsense on the filibuster

The Rs have already announced that they plan to take 3 congressional members off committees ...basically because they don't like them

FWIW, I don't think the Voting Rights bills address many of the specific policies that make a repeat of 2020 in 2024 more likely to succeed. It seems that there is renewed interest in fixing the Electoral College Act, which addresses some of the more acute issues.

Yup, lots of people would've shrugged their shoulders and gone back to their social media habits. The veneer of legality would keep most Americans placated. Additionally, the vast majority of people don't even understand what is in Constitution, how elections are conducted, etc. They are wholly ignorant as to the process.

Frankly, it takes the money of only one radical & committed billionaire to fund the whole thing. A single billionaire can take down the US government if they want it bad enough.

Bull. There are legitimate reasons for the members who were stripped of their committee assignments, including threats against other members of Congress

Ironically, Putin came down hard on the oligarchs because he understood the power they would wield with that much money. They are under his thumb and do his bidding. The are protected and free to operate, if they support Putin and stay away from domestic opposition.

In Russia, the oligarchs are an arm of the state. In the US, oligarchs are trying to take over the state.
