sorry if this has been asked -- how much does a nanny for 1 kid cost (after taxes, insurances, etc) per month? $4k? More? Less?
Thank you! |
Depends on the experience, education, and skill set of the nanny. Also if they can read and write in English.
And if overtime will be involved. Our nanny earns $28 an hour now for two kids (started at $25 three years ago with one newborn) with no overtime. She’s educated and an American. You also have to budget in taxes and vacation as well as bonus. So more than 4K a month! |
How is the kid?
Where do you live? How many hours a week? Yes to the above too. Nannies range from $20 to $35 an hour based on their education and experience. Anything over 40 hours a week is time-and-a-half and in some states anything over nine hours a day is time-and-a-half. |
On average you can expect a $22-27hr base rate for up to 40 hours per week. Any additional hours are paid at time and a half.
Workers' compensation insurance is about $750 per year as is a reputable tax and payroll service. ($1500 total) Figure 10% of the nanny's gross annual income in domestic employer taxes. An average health insurance stipend (if offered) is $150-300 per month and this is tax free for both the nanny and the family. If nanny will be using their personal vehicle to transport your kids, you will have to reimburse mileage at the current federal rate. A standard Christmas bonus is one weeks pay. Average annual raise is $1-2hr and and average new baby raise is $2-3hr. That should be a very close approximation. |
