If you tried out both cars, which one did you like more and why?
I’m inclined towards Nissan Rogue as I just fell in love with oversized sunroof. Plus, it’s a bit more fuel efficient. Plus the name sounds cool - kind of - even as I got no plans to rogue on anything ever. |
| I absolutely love my CX5. Excellent driving, it’s sporty and luxurious on the inside. If you look at any of the reputable car rating websites, the cx5 is toward the top and the Rogue is pretty far down. Not as reliable as Mazda. |
Ha! Okay. Thanks so much. I did not do that research yet. Just wanted to hear for myself from this forum. I have to somehow forget about that sunroof maybe. Also, I know this is a silly question in general - as one can look at those ratings etc - but I have I problem making decisions lately… talking it over helps. |

I just decided between the CX-5, the Honda CRV and Toyota Rav-4. I LOVED the way the CX-5 drove and the interior but at the end of the day it felt much smaller than the other two options, much lower to the ground - almost like I was driving a sedan. And comparing specs it indeed has less storage space. For that reason, I decided against it and I’d imagine you’d have a similar experience with the CX-5 vs. Rogue (although may not matter to you).
I did love it though!! |
CX5 poster above here. Yes the CRV has more storage. I had one before getting the Mazda. But I’ve never had an issue with storage in the back. We also have a 3 row SUV though so if we need a lot more storage we’ll use that. I definitely don’t feel low to the ground in it, especially with the seat raised up. But it comes down to personal preference! If you’re looking at cx5 and Rogue OP definitely a good idea to check out the Rav and CRV since they’re in the same category. |
|
CX-5, no question. I need a smaller car and will go for CX-30. Cannot wait to get rid of my Honda HR-V. What a crap car compared to Mazda.
I drove a Mazda for 11 years previously, and made a mistake of buying a Honda. Prices are through the roof right now. Not sure if it's a good time to change a car. |
This is OP. Thanks for the additional replies. Thanks for the suggestions. Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav are indeed good comparable… I was keeping an eye on models on highway that could be my potential cars and the latter made my list with Mazda and Nissan. I guess I could try them out. I’m in no rush to buy even as my car is 2005 Mazda 3! But the prices ain’t coming down so may be need to decide sooner rather than later. Thanks to the other posters too - helpful! |
| Nissan is for people without the credit to get something else. |
| We have the Rogue. We love it. Great size, a bit larger than the CX5, more space in the trunk. It also rides up higher. It’s a smooth easy driving vehicle for day to day and around town. It’s smooth on the highways. It’s not gutsy or speedy, so if you want fun to drive aspects go for another car. |
Why do you say that? |
Thanks so much for sharing. |
| Mazda’s are typically a nightmare to work on. Plus the SkyActive high compression DI engines beat themselves to death. |
Because that's their reputation now. What they lack in performance or features they makeup in the ability to finance underwater loans as part of the purchase. |
Ha?! Could you explain it more? The engine part… I should just look it up, I guess. |
Hmmm - that is not sustainable… |
