I use the hard times Cincinnati chili mix and add a can of pumpkin purée and a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes to bulk it up.

It’s just too many spices to make my own mix. 🤣

Serious eats Chili’s are great, especially the vegetarian one. Toasting dried chilies is worth the effort. I also use chipotle in adobo, if you don’t mind the heat.

Tips: cook the chili powder and spices in hot oil before mixing in to let the spices bloom. Don’t just dump powdered spices into the chili. Add cinnamon to the spice mix and dark chocolate to the sauce. Serve with Fritos.
