| Her first round match is tomorrow. She's down to the no. 14 in the world — it's been 24 months since she was no. 1. She's won the Australian Open twice, in 2021 and 2019, so no better place to prove she still has it, right. |
| No it will mean she is in a slump. |
| She will not lose first round. I will shave my balls with a straight razor if she does |
| I wouldn’t consider her a has-been, as much as a what-could-have-been. She doesn’t have the mental toughness to be a consistent No. 1 player, but she does have the talent. |

Idk even Tom Brady had 10 years he didn’t win the super bowl.
Nobody stays on top all the time. She will slump and rise many times. |
| Who cares. Don’t like her anymore. She seems as fake as others. |
+1. I like her. I hope she does well at this tournament but definitely a what-could-have-been. Agree she doesn't have the mental toughness to be consistent No. 1. |
Hahahahaha |
Lose early does not mean first round. |
Kewl story. |

No. You must not follow professional tennis very closer. Excellent players, seeded in the top 20, can definitely lose in the first, second, or third round of a major. The people they are playing are also professional tennis players and very good. All it takes is for the lower-ranked player to have a great day, and the top-20 player to have a below average day, and bam - they're out.
Already this year, Petra Kvitova, Sofia Kenin, Angie Kerber, and Coco Gauff have lost in the first round. So did the 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez. No wonder these players have mental health issues. One early round loss and they're "washed up" in the fans' eyes. |
Rarely happens in mens tennis to have a top 4-5 seed lose first round. It’s probably happened less than 5 times in the modern era |

It's very hard in tennis to stay at the top. The creme de la creme (just a handful in each generation) can sustain the level through the media scrutiny and pressure while handling the fame, all of the sponsorship obligations, etc. But, it is not unusual to have the "sophomore slump" for promising young players that come out, succeed, then have a slump while they try to adjust and they come back. See multiple slam winners like Garbine Muguruza, with one final and two grand slams in 3 years (2014-2016) then slumped until she made it back to the 2020 AO final and then won the WTA year end finals in 2021. She's finally back and playing strong again, but 2017-2019 were forgettable years for her.
And Sofia Kenin, won 2020 AO, finals in 2020 RG and then hasn't been to the QF of any grand slam since. She was just KO'ed in the first round. The real washed up has been is Jelena Ostapenko and due to a proliferation of injuries, likely Bianca Andreescu. I also would be surprised if Emma Raducanu doesn't go into a slump for at least the next 3-4 years. She doesn't really seem to have the mentality to live up to the hype and the expectations. |
| She wants to be some loser rapper’s arm piece, she doesn’t really care about tennis. |
Players with her level of endorsement deals are either constantly in the finals of every major if they earned the endorsements through their play or are never there if they got them through looks. |
