cat mourning? how can I help?

One of my cats died a couple weeks ago and since then, my other cat has just been inconsolable -- pacing the house meowing and meowing, going to the spots the other one preferred and pawing at them. She wants to be picked up and carried around, but not sit on my lap. She will pace until she pretty much just passes out in the late afternoon. I've always had multiple cats, so have had to deal with deaths before but never experienced anything like this -- usually a day or two and everyone is back to normal. I think the difference this time may be that she's now the only cat in the house vs all other times when there would be at least 2 or 3.

I was considering even getting something from Chewy like Zylkene or the Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Calming Care Cat Supplement ... Not sure how else to help her. Any suggestions?

Our dog did something like this when her bonded companion died and not even medication worked. We ended up getting another dog because we were afraid she would die from a broken heart. That helped her out of her grieving cycle.

I went through the same thing and it didn't get better until I brought home a second rescue cat. The new cat had been abused and neglected and not trusting of humans for a long time, but bonded amazingly well with my mourning cat. I really think they saved each other.
