How much snow?

Anonymous
Does anyone know how much snow is expected in the DMV this weekend? I've gone to several sites and googled but can't seem to find totals anywhere. Maybe we are too far out.

I'm sorry this isn't in the weather/environmental thread, I couldn't find it!

Nobody knows at this point. We'll have a clearer picture starting on Friday evening.

What's more or less certain is that we start off with snow on Sunday, and in the best case scenario, dry slot into Monday, or get an evil mix of sleet/rain/freezing rain and sludge into Monday. Right now some models are predicting perhaps 3 inches of snow? How much of that will be lost of rain later on?

But again, nothing is certain today.

Too far out. There will be more info tomorrow. More snow to the west, less to the east. If you’re on Facebook you should follow Doug Kammerer. He does a FB live most weekday afternoons and goes deep into the various models and how they pull together a forecast. I’ve been watching off and on for a few months and find it pretty interesting.

We like Doug even though he likes Trump. Darn, Doug.

Capital Weather Gang is predicting 1 - 4 inches, but will update as we get closer to Sunday.

I watch him a lot and have never seen anything about politics from him. I don’t know why you felt compelled to bring that up.

It sounds like this is going to be a mixed precipitation event - snow, sleet, and rain. If you can stay at home long enough, you might not have to do much with your sidewalks and roads by the very end, but the during part could be really bad.

Better go to the store today if you need to, it'll probably be a zoo tomorrow.
