how to deal with a toddler and early preg exhaustion

Anonymous
I feel horrible for my little guy I am just too tired to chase after him right now. Only 6 weeks and I am so exhausted I fall asleep at 8:30 just after he goes to bed. I don't see an end in sight, anyone have any advice?

There is an end (for me, the fatigue ended around week 14)....

In the meantime, just do what you can. If that means that your toddler watches more tv than normal, so be it. Take care of yourself and remember that the exhaustion really does get better during the second trimester...

omg, I could have written your post 3 weeks ago. I am almost 15 weeks now and it was AWFUL. I couldnt do anything...so tired all the time. But it got better! (I will tell you that it was so hard I dont know if I ever would get pregnant again)

I'm just getting over the first trimester sickness. My DS watched a ton of tv, and now that I am feeling better,
I have almost cut tv out completely. It is just temporary. You will feel better soon!

My older child is watching lots of TV and loving it. I watch with him . With a toddler though it is hard--TV doesn't hold interest and they want to explore and play.... Just do your best and realize that putting them in a playpen when you need to lie on the floor next to it will be OK. You are just trying to survive....and this too shall pass.

Too funny! Yet another person who was going to suggest that this is one of those times when tv is a wonderful babysitter. And don't feel guilty about it either! Also, do you have a SO who can help out? DH took over a lot of evening duties when he wasn't working.

Same thing with me! I am currently 14 weeks, and during weeks 6-10, it was AWFUL. I couldn't get myself off the couch. So, as PPs have suggested, it was the TV that saved me. I felt awful, because it was so nice outside and my 18 month old is so active. But I just couldn't muster the energy! I feel so much better now. There is an end in sight!
