Seeking quality day care near capitol hill or eckington (neighborhood near xm radio)

Hi. I'm a new mom seeking quality day care for my 16mos old son near capitol hill or eckington. I've reached out to the Board of Childcare located on 15th Street today (they informed me of the website). By chance is anyone familiar with this organization or any others? Please know that I am a bit anxious. My son has been cared for by a family member since he was 4mos old with no other children and it's possible that I may have some time constraints that maybe working against me. Any information or advice that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your help.

You might try searching the dc gov website for licensed centers. You can sort by ward, but not neighborhood, unfortunately, so you'll have to click on each licensee to find their exact address & proximity to Eckington/Cap Hill. http://dcschoolsearch.dc.gov/schools/index.asp

My child has been at the Board of Childcare Center since July and we are pleased with it overall. It's well run -- the director is all business but still VERY kid-friendly, I saw little ones running up to her and giving her the biggest hugs to welcome her back from her recent maternity leave. And the facility itself is great -- recent construction, well appointed and clean, was built specifically as a childcare facility.

I would highly recommend my daycare provider, Miss Bonnie, who runs an in home center on Capitol Hill at 6th & Maryland Ave., N.E. You can email me at bservaites(at)hotmail(dot)com for contact information. My 2 y.o. daughter has been there since she was 3 months old, and I could not be happier. I have heard good things about Board of Childcare from other moms, and I also hear good things about Model Cities, which is run by Catholic Charities near Galludet University.
