Will my kid’s absence be inexcused if I keep him home due to immuno-compromised family members?

I sat through the virtual meeting and many parents/speakers mentioned they are immuno-compromised but that their kids would be considered truant for staying home this week. Is this true? What a horrible choice to have to make.

Our principal asked parents to contact her and she will excuse the absence if they feel school is not safe. I would touch base with your school’s principal.

Many schools are livestreaming classes. Ask your principal if it's possible for your child's teacher/s to do that. I'm sorry you are in this situation.
