Infertility Support and Discussion
|
Hope someone can help me and sorry if I sound crazy...I just had my egg retrieval and my RE wants me to start taking Crinone 8% suppositories 2x's/day. For my past unsuccessful IUIs I've always taken Endometrin or Prometrium.
Apparently there is a shortage of Endometrin from the manufacturer?? This is why I was prescribed Crinone apparently. That is what SG told me. Anyone have experience with Crinone? Was your IVF cycle successful when you took it? I'm just concerned that I'm not taking the best progesterone suppositories out there. I don't care so much about the discharge, I can deal with that. Just want to make sure I'm using good stuff. TIA! |

I am a SG patient, currently pg. I started taking Endometrin after IVF and have not been able to get refills (few places have it in stock due to the shortage). I will be switching to Crinone this week. According to SG, it is just as effective as the Endometrin.
I don't recall hearing about a shortage of Prometrium, so if you wanted to use that instead, I'm sure you could ask your RE. |
| I'm not sure if this helps you, but Prosperity Pharmacy has a good supply of Endometrin in stock. I just recieved 2 boxes today. |
| So far, I've found that the Crinone does not leak out as much as the Endometrin did. |
| I had a successful IVF and used Crinone. I like it so much better! It wasn't messy at all. If you have a sucessful cycle you'll continue it through the first part of the pregnancy (I think it was like 9/10 weeks). When you're on it that long you will have some build up which will come out eventually. It's not bad though...like small clumps of candel wax. |
I forgot to add that I was a SG patient. |
| OP here...thank you all so much for your responses! They have made me feel so much better. And I agree, the Crinone ain't that bad so far! |
