Safer to stay in tourist zone or Mayakoba?

Anonymous
Some of my favorite vacations have been to Cancun/Riviera area.

Rosewood Mayakoba may have been my favorite vacation to date with kids. We went when we had 2 kids. Now we have 3 kids. We originally wanted to go this past winter break (last week) but decided to stay in the US.

Which do you think is safer - tourist zone or Mayakoba?

What do you think is the nicest hotel in the tourist zone and at Mayakoba?

Mayakoba feels safer to me. When in doubt, always go more local.

Op here. We have also been to Nizuc and it was amazing. I think the food and service were better at Rosewood. Nizuc would definitely be in my top 5 kid vacations.

Dh said next trip we should stay in the tourist zone so we can walk around. I am usually the one who likes to leave the resort and explore. Not sure if it is safe though.

That’s because it’s not.
