How are grocery stores looking?

Not sure if anyone went this weekend? Can't imagine any trucks have gotten thru today and not sure about tomorrow given that the snow will freeze.

Need to stock up again and would like to do it when stores are relatively stocked so that I can just do one big order and be done for a few weeks; didn't go this weekend as I figured everyone was getting home from their holiday vacations and needing to stock up and given omicron just don't want to be in packed stores esp with people who've traveled all over. I could wait until Wed/Thursday. In Arlington if it matters.

I made my first ever visit to an Aldi in NoVa yesterday and it looked like a bomb had gone off.

Perhaps they're always like that, but pretty much confirmed it as my last ever visit to an Aldi.

Giant in downtown Silver Spring Sunday at 1pm was weirdly out of a ton of stuff.

Given this caught many people unawares, there wasnt time to panic buy as people are want to do.

Had to go to three grocery stores in NW DC to find chicken breasts, of all things. Giant cleaned out of most chicken meat. Trader Joe's cleaned out of most actual meat. Streets was the winner.

In addition to trucks not getting in because of the weather (and fewer trucks during the holidays, in general), know that grocery stores are also incredibly short staffed. People have covid, and things don't get from a truck onto a shelf by themselves.

Be kind, and be patient to every person you see who works in delivery, grocery, retail, etc.

+1 I thought it was just me! Only giant packs of thighs were left.

Did yall know there's a cream cheese shortage? So weird.

Chicken thighs are actually better. They have more flavor. Hope you bought them and found that out! And, yes, the cream cheese shortage is weird. I cannot find any, either.

The store I went to was pretty picked over yesterday - not sure if it was storm related, lack of workers due to covid/new years Eve or just the resolutioners (I sort of remember produce and chicken being hard to find last January). I suggest going tomorrow. They may not have gotten any trucks in to restock. Arlington roads were bad earlier. Wednesday may be better. Can you go mid-morning?

Plenty of cream cheese in MoCo. Always in stock. I honestly thought it was a marketing strategy

ME TOO!! Plenty of cream cheese in every store I’ve been (although I haven’t been shopping in the last few days)

I found cream cheese for $1.99 at WF in Silver Spring. Someone told me that it had gone up to $20 for a package. No shortage that I saw.

Yesterday, Wegman’s was fully stocked, but Harris Teeter was nearly sold out of leafy greens (i.e. salad).
