Will I have jury duty January 11?

Anonymous
It was already rescheduled for me (I had surgery). The new date is January 11 (superior court). What are the chances I will actually have to report (given Omicron)?

Chances high

I have jury duty the same day and have been wondering the same thing...

OP again. I just found an order filed yesterday by the Superior Court. It looks like jury trials will be continued until no earlier than February 11. At least that how it reads to me.

A sure thing. They are still trying to fight their way through the first court shutdown.

OP just posted an order that says jury trials postponed until February.

What about grand jury duty? The order doesn't seem to say anything about that.

Given that it's DC, they would probably still expect you to report even if courts are closed.

I was a close contact last time, got bumped to the next 2 year schedule.

Thanks for finding this. I’m the PP that also has jury duty on 1/11. Looks like we won’t have to report.

I think you don’t know what you are talking about. If jury trials are delayed precisely because they are taking into account what is happening with Covid, they would not want juries to report.

Not DC but they just shut down in court for my sister (who is a prosecutor) because of a massive outbreak among court staff and prosecutors. I have to imagine the jail is a nightmare right now too.

I think you missed the joke that DC is such a joke of a bureaucratic hell hole that they would still issue a bench warrant for failing to report even if the courthouse doors are locked.

I don't get it. They just sent an automated email reminder to report for jury duty January 11. But all jury trials in DC have been continued (postponed) until mid February, so I would be reporting for jury duty when there are no jury trials taking place.

DC needs to get its act together.

OP here. OK it is official. I finally got in touch with someone on the online chat for jury duty and sent them this judge's order, at which point the person said I didn't have to report and I had fulfilled my jury duty.

They need to update the website and send jurors emails telling them not to report. Or at least NOT send them emails telling them TO report.
