what do you stock to save money before baby born?

Like diaper, wipes or formula or what before baby is born? I am finding ways to save money but be flexible.

Nothing. I did buy a box of NB, size 1, and size 2 diapers because babies somehow always jump sizes suddenly in the middle of the night and I prefer to have the next size on hand. I also buy a box of wipes.

Everything else will go on sale with regularity and/or may not work for your baby so you waste money to buy it now

Really nothing for the newborn. We ended up with newborn diapers that were too small for our big baby and a case of wipes that gave him a rash. Wait and see on the baby items, OP.

You’ll save a lot of money by not ordering in and having frozen meals prepared for you and DH however. Get a huge light weight water cup/bottle for yourself if you’re going to breastfeed and a basket for nuts and dried fruits and granola bars to keep next to your nursing chair.

Buying stuff ahead won’t save money.

I always bought boxes of diapers on sale. 1-2 boxes of size 1, 1-2 boxes of size 2 and multiple size 3/4/5. My second was measuring smaller and we induced at 39 weeks so I got 1 box of NB for her.

This. The brand of diapers (Honest - which everyone I know loves) I overstocked because they were on sale gave my baby a fungal rash. And the cheap wipes came out of the dispenser four at a time so that was no savings. I actually wasted money trying to save money.

This. But if you let people know you're open to hand-me-downs, you can save a lot of money on clothes/toys/baby gear, and you can start collecting that now. Join your local Buy Nothing group too.

Get hand me downs and sort them all. I had mine hung up in the closet in sizes.

Nothing. If you need to save money that badly you can’t afford a kid. It’s about saving time, not money.

I would not stock up on diapers before baby arrives. Cut/shape is different across brands, which impacts fit depending on how chunky your baby is. Some babies are sensitive to the chemicals in certain brands and get rashes. You could end up with extra boxes you can’t use if baby has a growth spurt. I would just start with a big box of newborns and size 1s.

I generally buy diapers and wipes at Costco. There may be other ways to save more, but I think the Costco wipes especially are a good deal and they’ve worked for well for all my kids. I know the Target app does deals several times a year - if you buy $100 worth of diapers/wipes at once, you get a $25 gift card.

Congrats!

The richest people I know like to save money, idiot.

Wipes you could probably stockpile if you wanted to.
Diapers I wouldn't - you don't know how long your child is going to spend in the smaller sizes of diapers.
Formula I wouldn't stockpile. What if your baby ends up needing a different formula due to allergies or something?

Diapers in size 1, CVS has a lot of coupons. Wipes, Pampers Aquapure

Wipes dispenser is one of the best baby items that I own. One wipe out at a time, they don't dry out, and easy one hand use

Yes! I have two of these and love them. Probably the most used things in my house. We use them in the bathroom for my older kid too since they don't wipe well when potty training (we throw them in trash, not down the toilet)
