Fitness trainer for teen boys?

Anonymous
I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good but not too extreme fitness trainer for two kids who want to get in shape and stay fit. We are not looking for a screaming, 'feel the burn!' kind of coach but someone who can help them around a gym learning the different techniques and strategies for life. We have a gym in our building so they could come to us (in NW).

Don’t they go to high school? Every school I’ve ever heard of has a weightlifting class. Granted the teacher is not a personal trainer but he could steer them into a program.

High school gyms are typically heavily used by teams outside of class hours, and during the day kid may well have already done PE and/or not be able to get into a weight training g class if one exists. My weightlifter kid tried and failed to get that class.

I would love to hire a fitness trainer for my teen boy to come at home and get him moving. Watching this thread. I am in MoCo.

Shouldn’t be a problem. Likely run you $500 a week for 4 hours.

Oh man hopefully not to late in the thread but I extremely recommend Neural Movement with Adriana! Boys all teens love it! Like OP mention it’s hard finding a trainer that gets people highly motivated to move but also get them in a path in getting in shape without feeling the burn in a sense. Live in NW as well, she come to my place or my DS friends place. Little pricey but so worth it since I don’t worry about commute or equipment.

Are they doing indoor or outdoor workouts with people during the pandemic rising?

Swift Fitness in Gaithersburg, MD offers strength training for all ages, including teens. Training is done in their private studios so won't need to worry about coming into contact with others. I've had a great experience there. They also offer online training if commute is an issue.

Healthy Baller (facilities in MOCO and Fairfax Co), but, I do know they have trainers that will travel to other locations. Coach Dominique Graham (Coach Dommo) is in DC. He is a strength and performance coach at SJC, runs his own program (Champs Time Fitness), but he is great with teens and may do on the road personal training. I would contact coach dommo through facebook.

They definitely are, it’s a bit hard with outdoor sessions but she works out of the garage at times or in our basement with a mask

I want to say Golds Gym will do this, most gyms will if the kid is over the age of 12.

This is a terrible idea for a kid who needs to get in shape. No kid in this category wants to share the weight room with the lacrosse team.
