Last-minute issues with Naviance- can you help?

Anonymous
So, my daughter added four colleges at the last minute, after receiving a couple EA rejections.

Her high school (in Montgomery County) uses Naviance for managing the application process. When she requested transcripts and LoR for these four schools, two immediately said "sent". But two of them still say "requested", and my daughter is concerned that this means that the request didn't go through. (the letters of recommendation were long ago submitted by the teachers to Naviance, and we have paid for the transcripts. With other schools, getting them sent to the school just required a click of the button.) She has emailed her counselor, but of course the counselor is on a well-deserved break.

Not sure what is going on BUT my understanding is that the colleges will have a week or two after the deadline when they will continue to accept materials from the schools so you will be able to get this straightened out with your school after the break...the colleges know there are glitches with school systems and won't hold it against your DC.

Assuming Naviance is sending through Common App, check Common App. If the transcript was sent/received, it should show a date in Common App.

If there is a designated individual in the Counseling department who is responsible for sending transcripts and LOR then contact that person. It may not be the counselor who sends them. At least that was the case at a W school when my DC was a senior couple of years ago. Best of luck to your DD in landing an acceptance from her top choice school.

I wouldn’t stress too much. Colleges seem to have a grace period receiving documents from high school. Also most individual schools have a portal you sign up for that will indicate when all the separate parts of the application are received. Take a deep breath and follow up after the break.

We’re in the same boat. Naviance says it’s pending and the college website says they have everything. (So maybe look at the college website?) I’m nudging my daughter to ask her school counselor but am not worried because she’s not likely to go there since she’s been accepted at other colleges.

oh, thank you, this sounds the same... My daughter asks: Is it on the "Manage Transcripts" page, under "Mailed" that it says "pending"?

So your daughter has already submitted the application? Mine is still finishing up the essays. I guess she can't look at the college website until the whole application is submitted, or?

Thank you to the other PPs too!
