Are schools going to ok with positive tests if 10 days are up?

We have Covid and have been in isolation for 10 days. no symptoms but tests are still coming up positive. I knew a few people who are in this position--they're 10 days out, feel fine, rapid tests are still brightly positive. Once school start testing will they allow kids back if tests are still positive after 10 days? At this rate we may never return. šŸ™

No school is going to let you back with a positive test. Now, some may say you don’t need to test, though I would probably have an ethical issue with that. What does your doctor say?

The pcr test will be positive for months.

The Op is talking about rapid antigen tests

See if you can get a doctor’s note. You could be testing positive for a while.

If your school is going to test, I’d make sure you have an official dated positive test from cvs or something. Our school lets people back still testing positive after 2 weeks.

I’ve got a DC private school says my kid who had Covid has to do a PCR test. Aren’t there lots of false positives?

Our school doesn't make you retest to return as long as you are symptom-free and it's been 2 weeks.

I should add that if you've had COVID, you don't have to do the school's testing for 2 months because they realize people can still test positive.

I wish. I just emailed school and they say they need a PCR test. This is so crazy. I’m at another school that says don’t test after illness for 90 days.

Result—we’re not testing again until the last minute. Kid looks pretty healthy to me!

If you test + for COVID on a PCR test, you don't get tested for 90 days.

A positive NAAT / PCR diagnostic test should not be repeated within 90 days, because people may continue to have detectable RNA after risk of transmission has passed

Does someone have a link to a DC health site saying no test for 90 days? Thanks, I can’t find it and I certainly don’t want a bunch of false positive tests.

I found the CDC website info here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/testing/diagnostic-testing.html
