| We're hoping to get together Christmas Eve with my parents and my uncle and my sister and her family and we asked everyone to take a rapid test because my sister and her family flew here on Monday (kids are vaccinated, actually everyone is vaccinated). They don't have any rapid tests, don't care about doing rapid tests, and are blowing off the request. Would you still go? Is it crazy to want everyone to take a rapid test? My parents are 80 and 81, triple vaxxed. |

If the issue is not being able to get the tests, then there isn't much you can blame them for.
I would proceed with the holiday plans and just make sure you have adequate ventilation. If none of the vaccinated visitors have any symptoms (since arriving Monday) I would say you all should be OK. |
The issue is partially that they don't have test but also that they aren't interested in trying to get any tests. At least one person is sniffly. |

I think it's a little inconsiderate to expect your sister and her family to possibly quarantine or skip the celebration, given that they flew here. I would take that as ungrateful.
I think you're being a little overprotective - everyone is vaccinated, no one has overt covid symptoms. What do your parents say? If they're that concerned, can THEY stay at home and join by zoom or something? Like I said, they didn't spend a lot of money and effort to fly to visit you, and your sister did. |
| Yesterday I saw a doctor on tv saying we can’t test our way out of this. Your relatives could test negative today, but be positive tomorrow. They haven’t done everything they could, but someone could contact Covid even if they had. Everyone is vaccinated. Now you have to decide your risk tolerance, and your parents will have to decide theirs. |

At this point OP, my major concerns are for people who aren't vaccinated and vulnerable. I think everyone is getting covid, but overwhelmingly, the truly sick will be the adults who aren't vaccinated and boosted.
If it were me, I would go. Until it becomes extremely rampant and dangerous in my area, I'm living my life as normally as possible. We're going to go out with precautions and get back to life. |
| It’s messed up to have them pay to fly out here and THEN have them test. Are you a troll? |

I would go. Everyone is vaccinated. With omicron it looks like we're all going to get this variant way easier. I would not be too worried as everyone has taken the precaution of getting vaccinated.
