Parents are already talking about early release (no lunch) or remote school after winter break - before we have any indication of how bad the omicron wave may turn out to be.
Sign-up for asymptomatic surveillance testing so when parents start clamoring to close schools, APS will actually have statistically relevant proof of community spread (or lack thereof) in schools. Push to keep schools open unless school specific numbers are too high. If you signed up in September, you have to sign up again. Thankfully this time the form is easy and straightforward. For all those people who think testing is awful because it might keep their asymptomatic kid out of school, here’s your chance to do something other than companion about hypothetical scenarios. Sign up and provide APS some real data on how Covid is not present in your school or is not spreading asymptomatically. If you leave it to speculation, the fear mongering will win. My kid has been participating since September and we have had 0 quarantines and 0 false positives or re-tests. My kid who is known to complain about everything and anything says it’s super easy and he only misses 10 min of class. Message from APS: APS is switching asymptomatic covid testing providers. If you would like your student to continue to be tested in January (or you would like to opt-in), please fill out this consent form for the new company. https://www.cognitoforms.com/CIANDiagnostics1/visstatestingprogramconsentformapsstudents. |
No thanks |
No thanks at all! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR TESTING
The NFL is now only testing symptomatic players. The future is (a) if you're sick, stay home and (b) if you're not, go to school. Is the NFL more important than children's education? If you think kids are more important, don't sign up! https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-covid-19-protocols-194538465.html |
Asymptomatic kids have Covid. |
What's more important? The NFL or kids' education? Stop the asymptomatic testing. Kids need to be in school. https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-covid-19-protocols-194538465.html |
Friendly reminder that everyone will get COVID and it will never be eradicated. Do you want to do these mitigation methods for the rest of your life, when we're seeing they're not working and you're going to get COVID anyway?
The majority of people are done. Your attempts to "stop the spread" are fruitless. We take our kids out maskless everywhere - restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters, etc. The rest of the country is back to normal too. Life is too short. Vaccinated or not, everyone is likely to get COVID-19 at some point, many experts say 'The idea that we’re going to live our lives without ever getting it is a fantasy — and a dangerous one,' says one epidemiologist https://www.ocregister.com/2021/10/03/vaccinated-or-not-everyone-is-likely-to-get-covid-19-at-some-point-many-experts-say/ |
We are in a health pandemic? Our communities health. School can be virtual if the only other option is selfish parents sending in sick kids to cause outbreaks. If Covid is no issue, test. |
Ok, but we don’t deliberately need to spread it and purposely get others sick because you are too lazy to be a parent. |
Do you say that about the flu? Do you tell people not to leave their house for the flu (which COVID now is for the vaccinated and unvaccinated kids)? Nope, we're done. Completely done. |
Our hospital capacity is great. Our vaccination rate is great. We can't have asymptomatic kids missing school. If it's good enough for the NFL, then it should apply to schools. DO NOT GET TESTED!!! |
If you believe in science (vaccines are effective against severe disease and kids rarely get very sick anyway) the smart play is to get omicron over break and be done with it. |
Thanks for this. I didn’t realize we had to opt in again. Just filled it out. |
There is already a thread about this:
