How much allowance money do you send your kid each week/month at college?

Debit card I assume.

My 14 yr old at boarding school get $100/month. This is enough to cover the school outings to target, the movies, or grabbing food with a friend.

Hmmmm. It doesn’t work like that for us - not when I was in college not for our kids. It’s not an allowance. It’s just what they need. They have credit cards that we keep an eye on the purchases and they use as they need things. If kid needs cash I’ll transfer money to his savings account which he can then access thru his debit card.

None--for everyday spending, he uses his earnings from his summer job. He'll be working over xmas break to boost his bank account.

Mine used to send me 1,200/month in 2001, so that's around 2k now.

$0

They had summer jobs and can use that for spending money. We pay tuition, books, housing. They have a credit card from our account and we say they can (each) spend up to $300/month for food, but they never even spend close to that. They are also on our health insurance and cell phone plan.

We're pretty much the same. Each kid has an AmEx and a Visa that they can use for things they buy in person. On Amazon or other online vendors they just use our account and choose one of our credit cards. Their checking / debit card accounts pull automatically from our master account when they go lower than $250.

DC has a part-time job (10hrs/wk) and use it for whatever he wants to do for entertainment. We pay tuition, fees, housing and food

I'm supposed to send my kid allowance money...?

Spending money is on my son. He uses money from his summer job. If he runs out, I guess it's time to get another job. I pay for tuition, room/board, and fees. He pays for books.

none. he's on a meal plan and anything else he needs beyond that is why he has a summer job. not sure why he'd need us to send him money.

None. They cover incidentals and entertainment from jobs and gifts. One is off the meal plan do used our VISA for food. We still pay for most clothes though.
