We had two cases today per the dashboard, but zero from our principal. People are worried. Are all APS principals this bad with regards to covid notification? |
Our school sends them very quickly. |
FCPS sends emails on Fridays if positive cases were reported in a school during the week. |
We get one email a week, every Thursday. |
In APS. It was 8 days post-exposure when we werw informed DD was a close contact and then still took 24 more hours before they shared the actual timing so we would know if we could test yet. Very frustrating.

Our APS school notifies the same day they receive notification of a positive test. |
Seems like it’s all over the board. 8 days past exposure? Just get a test and be done. Pathetic APS. |

Discovery sends quickly. We even got on this week saying the lab made a mistake about a positive case (kid was also retested- negative). |
APS - email same day as it shows in the dashboard |
Our DD is in K in LCPS. The dashboard for the county is updated daily. There have been a handful of cases at her elementary school, per the dashboard, but we’ve never actually received an email from the school about any of them. My understanding is we would only be contacted if she was deemed a close contact of a positive student or staff member. |
Our FCPS school posts numbers on Fridays. |
Some of this isn't in the school's control. There can be a lag between a positive test and the school even knowing, so keep that in mind.
Ours comes out within 24 hours. Though we did know about a positive in a class on a Sunday, people kept their kids home because they knew, but some kids went to school Monday who were close contacts. The parents got called to pick them up. Notice from the school goes out after close contacts are notified with the grade of the student, and that's it. We haven't had that many cases (thank you outdoor lunch!) so overall it seems the response has been good. In fact we've never had more than 2 cases in a week. |
