Christmas treat making during Covid isolation

Anonymous
DS and I are several days into having symptoms and positive tests. We want to make Christmas treat. I’m assuming it’s safe to make these now and eat throughout the season (even after we are well) right? Would it be ok to mail some to family who don’t have Covid? The virus doesn’t survive on food especially through mailing time right?

Eh, please don’t make Xmas cookies while you have a cold, whether it’s covid or something else. It’s gross.

No, don't cook and mail things if you are sick.

+1. And definitely don’t send them to other people. WTF?

Surely your fever is high, OP, or Covid has addled your brain.

I’m not a germophobe at all, I’ll eat homemade treats from students, eat at buffets, etc. but I would not eat treats made from someone who knowingly has covid.

+1, technically it might be fine but I would skip it. Everyone will understand. I think you’re okay to make them for yourselves though.

I don’t think I have a fever but yes I have been trapped in an apartment with a preschooler and really annoying dog so maybe something is addled.
Looking for things to do.

I was thinking I would leave out (covered for several days then freeze for later (for us to eat).

Ok, ok, sorry guys

Bake them, freeze them, keep them for your family. Simple. I make and freeze chocolate chip cookies all the time to hide them from my husband. Just put them in a container I know he will not search for and wait till he's sleeping.

I agree with PPs it seems gross ... but also, how would any germs survive both cooking and mailing? That doesn't seem likely.

Freeze the dough for the ones you won't be able to eat soon-cookies baked from frozen dough are so much better than defrosted cookies. If you need activities, homemade playdough rolled out and cut with cookie cutters and then dried in the over and painted are fun. They sell packs of quick dry dough at CVS and dollar stores in the office supply section if you want an alternative to homemade play dough.
