Ever since he was born, my baby has hated his car seat. Just screams every time we're about to put him in it. We've tried everything. Even when I ride in the back with him he's not happy. Now that he's 10 months and reaching the height limit on his current infant seat, I want to really do some research and figure out something that would be more comfortable for him.
I'm not sure it would fix the problem, but I want to at least try. Any advice or recommendations? |
| My baby loves the Nuna rava. It seems very comfortable |
Thank you! We were looking at the Rava or possibly Maxi Cosi. Second to safety, comfort for our baby is our biggest priority since him hating the carseat is so limiting for us. |
| The Rava is fine. I find it’s hard for my thumb to push the strap button. But it’s the only one I’ve had. I think that’s common. Few of us can compare regular use across models. |
Whatever is making him hate it, it’s probably not something that varies car seat to car seat. It’s probably just he doesn’t like being strapped down or the motion of the car or something. I wouldn’t get too fixated on the seat itself. |
| We have a Maxi Cosi Pria. But the biggest thing we did was get a car seat in a bright and appealing color. It makes it fun for them. I think often people go for car seats that they think won't show dirt/wear or that match their car upholstery or whatever. I guess if your kid loves sitting in the car, those reasons are perfectly good. But if your kid resists the car seat, getting one in their favorite color or with a fun print can make a huge difference. |

I disagree with previous posters. My daughter HATED the car and her Uppababy mesa infant car seat. Initially she was fine since she was a sleepy newborn, but from 2 months on she hated it.
Easygoing baby except while in the car. At 4.5 months I switched her to the full size Diono 3RXT to see if it made a difference because I couldn’t take the screaming anymore and she was so much better. The screaming stopped, she was able to nap in the car again, and it has been a game changer. We traveled for thanksgiving and brought the infant car seat because it’s more portable and attaches to our stroller and same story, back to screaming absolute bloody murder in the car. The car seat made a difference! |
| My infant bucket seat hating DD enjoyed the Chicco Nextfit Zip. It's very cushioned. And I loved how I could unzip the cover and wash it in the washing machine (air dry). |
| OP here. Maybe it's a pipe dream but I want to believe that changing the car seat will help my baby do better in the car. We limit ourselves to short trips because we know he'll just scream...thanks to those who shared their positive experiences...keeping my hope alive! lol |
| Turning them around fixes the problem. So it might be awhile until you get there. |
| My screamer stopped when we moved him out of the infant seat into a convertible. I think he liked being a little more upright and being able to look around. We got the Graco that can convert into a HBB. |
| Changing the car seat helped a lot for my DD, pulled her out of the Mesa at 11 months which she hated and used the Britax. Night and day. |
| Another vote for the rava |
| Take baby and let them try out a bunch of seats. |
| We have the Britax click-it. |
