Early this morning I heard a noise and went out to investigate. Nothing was amiss, cat looked fine, so I went back to bed. Well, this afternoon I was walking down the hall outside my bedroom and noticed something sticking out of a picture frame. Two little cat claws sticking up from the bottom. I can only assume my cat jumped, hooked herself onto the frame, and then fell? She seemed fine this morning and seems fine now - is running and jumping normally, alert other than naps after breakfast and snacks, etc. However, I am worried about her claws. One is indeed missing, but I can still see some of the nail where it ripped off, so I think she just broke a nail. Not sure about the other one. How do I know she is okay?
She is likely fine if she doesn't seem visibily hurt.
She is probably fine but in the future if she has a hard fall you'll need to mind broken bones, internal bleeding and pinched nerves. The latter two can take a while to show up.
She is probably fine, but take another look at her claws today and again tomorrow. My cat did something similar and I had no idea until I saw some tiny drops of blood on the floor and figured out it was from him. He had pulled out one nail and another was bent back. The vet had to clip it and the cat had to take some pain meds and antibiotics for a week.

Unless she is bleeding, hiding under a chair etc - she's fine. Nine lives, etc.
My cat threw herself at a screen to "catch" a squirrel and when she fell she chipped a tooth. She also got herself inside a plastic bag and when it made a noise and she freaked out she ran up stairs, tearing off a few nail claws. She was ultimately fine. |
