Spotting at 7 weeks

Anonymous
I have been having very faint pink-ish spotting since I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago with some on and off light cramping. A while ago, I went to the bathroom and was surprised to see to see little spots of blood on the TP. It was small and then it was pinkish again. Is this a bad sign?

I had a similar thing and freaked out. But it was a subchorionic hematoma, which is no big deal. I think if you’re worried, you should see your doctor.

Have you had an ultrasound yet? If you did, and it went well, it is probably just an SCH, they are very common. I had one, with a gush of blood, at 7 weeks and the nurse at my IVF clinic wouldn't even bring me in for another ultrasound since I didn't have severe cramping. She said that I should only be worried if I was doubled over in pain. Everything was fine at my next check up two weeks later. That being said, you should call your Dr!

OP here. I have not had an ultrasound yet.

I'm sorry to say that spotting AND cramping for me was not a good sign. I'd call your doctor and get an ultrasound scheduled to check what's going on.

The cramping I had during my healthy pregnancies was very different than my miscarriage cramping. My losses (I had 3) felt exactly like a period and my bleeding ramped up quite a bit over the first 24 hours.

I know you mean well and subchorionic hematomas often resolve without issue, but they can also cause pregnancy loss.

OP you should ask to see your doctor, it's the right time for an ultrasound and hopefully they can give you some peace of mind.

Call doc ASAP. They will usually have you come in to check.

It could go either way and you need an ultrasound to know. I'm sorry that's not more helpful, but spotting and then cramping was always a bad sign for me. Wishing you the best of luck.

Hi OP, I had blood and bad cramping at 8w. They brought me in right away. Had an SCH right next to the baby. They loaded me up on progesterone and told me to lay down on bed rest and drink water for a few days. Brought me back in the next week and it was resolving and eventually went away in a few weeks. But the other PPs are right it can be not great news. I recommend calling to get an U/S quickly.

This happened to me, and was also an SCH. I did go in for an ultrasound just to make sure everything was ok - would recommend that for peace of mind.
