We live at kentland, near Lakelands Park MS. Which link/where can I sign up for my 6 year old boy (kindergartner) soccer for fun in the spring 2022? It will be great it is somewhere nearby and on weekends only. He is beginning level. Where do you get shin guards and cleats (or regular tennis shoes) and size 3 soccer ball?
I have been seeing some kids playing soccer playing there randomly by coach on weekends near Lakeland Park MS field, but I can't tell how old those kids are. Seems could be a bit older... |

Go with MSI
https://www.msisoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1021045 Spring registration is open. You can buy everything at Dicks/Amazon/Walmart/Target... there is no need at 6 to get anything nicer than the absolute base level of equipment. |

sam soccer (germantown)
https://mdsoccerplex.org/sam-soccer/ or closer and cheaper gaithersburg league. https://www.gaithersburgmd.gov/recreation/sports/youth-teen-sports |
| This is OP, thanks. What are the main differences between MSI, sam soccer & Gaithersburg league? Is one better than the other? I want to sign up with one and stick for a few years down the road. |
Try MSI or SAM soccer. My experience is that most kids play SAM soccer, since the soccerplex is close by. You could also Brit-Am soccer. We usually get equipment at Dicks sporting goods. There's also Rockville Soccer and PJ sports. |
| My kids have done MSI for years. There are pros and cons. If you’re hoping to stick to it, I would suggest finding a place where practice isn’t too far for you. Kindergarten MSI is all one location. 1st and up means finding a team from your school or neighborhood (they’ll place you) and hoping the practices aren’t far away. |

OP, recommend you do the MSI Rec. It is parent coached and the season fee is very reasonable and it includes a jerseys as well. They play games at MCPS elementary and middle school fields throughout MoCo.
Dick’s has a soccer package which includes cleats, shin guards and a ball. I don’t know if they still have it though. |
| MSI. Your child will be placed on a team that practices near to where you live, likely with players from their ES. Great for making friends and eventually, for car pooling. |
