Browne Academy v. St Anthony pre-school

Anonymous
Does anyone have experience of these two Virginia pre-schools/schools? Good, bad or indifferent?

A friend has her daughter at Browne-loved the preschool. St. Anthony's waitlist is years...did you get a spot?

No - not on the wait list yet - called them and they said it would be about a year but I am hearing other things on this website. My son is 7 months old and I don't want to get ripped off paying money to go on a wait list if it is going to be forever till we get a place (had that happen at numerous day care places in DC when I was 3 months pregnant - still waiting!!) Would you happen to know why your friend chose Brownes over other places and what other schools she was looking at?

Just my 2 cents, but if you are thinking of sending your child to private school one of the advantages to sending them to Browne to pre-school over St. Anthony's is that you can continue sending your child to the same school whereas you will have to start the process all over again after they "age out" of St Anthony's

That is true. St. Anthonys does not require a fee to be waitlisted. I can tell you that it's more like 2 years on the waitlist-my son has been on the waitlist since he was 3 months old and he's now 14-and they don't think a spot will open until '09. Browne-they chose Browne because there isn't a religious affiliation. Good school, very expensive.

browne preschool is fantastic. but it doesnt begin until age 3. half days are being phased out. i think it will be 5 full day only next year. the preschool is almost required as a feeder into the kindergarten nowadays. browne's preschool is very nurturing and academic. good firend had their son at st anthony's as daycare through "preschool." sorry but their program barely can be described as academic. st anthony's is better compared to daycares in the area. preschool at browne, burgundy, acds is very different in our experience.
