How about you get a recipe from each family/student in the class and put it in a photo book you can get at Michaels? Just put a recipe on each page?

Fingers crossed I’m the teacher you are being so generous to! I would say a gift card to William Sonoma or some nice but small items from there (mixing cups or salad serving utensils, etc.)

A microplane rasp grater is a great tool at the "teacher gift" price point the worry is she already has one.

+2. I am friends with a pretty serious home cook who used to work in restaurants, and he buys these spices as a treat from time to time.
