Everything with my just-turned-three-year-old is “pee-pee” and “poo-poo”.
Me: What’s that child’s name? DS: Pee-pee!! (Followed by laughter) Me: What did you have for snack? DS: Poo-poos!! (Followed by laughter). DS started half-day preschool in September and I’m wondering if it came from there. I grew up with brothers and toilet humor didn’t start until kindergarten. |

You get that his goal with this stuff is that it gets a funny reaction from you, right? Not that he's testing out material for his stand up act and decided to go in a new direction. Kids love toilet humor specifically because it feels sort of illicit and can get interesting responses from grown ups.
I lean into it. My DD and I talk about our farts all the time, for instance! I mean -- farts are funny. |

Ah yes. Probably the preschool. And for *some* kids (looking at you, DD!), it doesn't end until middle school.
|
| Yep. It’s been buttholes and poop since 3. It is pretty funny tbh. |
DS started at three too. Here I thought he was advanced!

| Mine is 4 and started this year. Lots of butts, pee, and poop. I heard this will last for years. |

Hahaha your DS is so funny!
I was wondering if you will be willing to share more about your experiences as a parent to help other parents on a 25 minute focus group? It is running until 18th January 2022 with a prize draw for £100. The idea is we hear what problems parents have and also if they have overcome this problem/struggle so you can potentially help others. Anyone else with a spare 25 minutes who can make this would be much appreciated! Keep the humour up but I am sure they will stop talking about toilets when older, Stella Learn more about the event: https://sites.google.com/view/sehtis-group/home Register directly here: https://forms.office.com/r/KbrhGQpTnh |
