gift ideas for FIL girlfriend

Anonymous
FIL has been dating the same woman for a couple of years. We've only met her twice so I don't know much about her. I've given her a scarf one year, and slippers last year. Any ideas for this year? She is late 70s, very energetic, was more of a career lady (so not into knitting or stereotypical grandmother activities). I have no idea what size she would be.

Spa GC?
Robe?

Ask FIL her likes and dislikes. He likely will be happy that you are thinking about her.

You are sweet, OP. I bet she will be very happy that you thought of her.

I would ask the FIL. He may have some ideas. Other than that here are some ideas in a variety of price ranges:

- Perfume or cologne (ask the FIL what she wears) and lotion in the same fragrance
- Gift certificate to her salon for a manicure and pedicure
- Leather gloves (fur-lined are extra nice)
- Cashmere gloves & scarf
- Cashmere pashmina or wrap
- Subscription to a magazine or a bunch of magazines
- Tickets for 2 to a local production (opera, theatre, symphony, etc)
- Fruit basket or similar type gift basket from someplace like Harry & David or Zingermans or Wolfermans

Also, no one wants candles. Like, no one.

Speak for yourself - I adore candles, especially Jo Malone, Nest.

I also like electronic foot massager, cozy blanket or robe (like Barefoot Dreams), gift certificate to a local indie bookstore, hand cream like L’Occitane (nothing too scented), massage gift card, super soft pajamas or lounge set, higher end dessert (like Laduree), boxes of tea.

Speak for yourself again.
I have a doctorate degree and a career and I am also an expert knitter.
So there.

A throw blanket or a hat/glove combo.

She does not expect anything she actually likes from you.

Not OP. This made me laugh and I’m going to tell myself this repeatedly. I have anxiety around gift giving because I worry the person won’t like what I select, but I do think in the end this statement is true of most people and I can relax.
