| Title IX is a very specific law and requires really specific steps. I know of several campuses where students aren’t happy with the title IX procedures but what they are demanding is really toxic. On some campuses, students are demanding that any student who had been accused of Sexual Assault be banned from campus or have reduced access to college services. On some campuses they are advocating for 3rd party reporting. This is fascism and witch hunting. It is important to take sexual assault seriously but this climate is scary. |

If you want to see something scary, watch the Hunting Ground documentary.
That is how schools behaved when they were left to their own devices. |
| Having just dealt with a Title IX/Equity issue with American University, I can tell you the office is incompetent and only out to protect itself- it does not care about students all all. They should be not only ashamed, but dismantled and rebuilt. |
| My child's school doesn't seem to know Title IX exists, based on how they've handled two different incidents on campus. It's a VERY small school where everybody knows everyone and everything, so in the absence of the school doing anything about the situations, the students are simply making pariahs out the accused. It's not the way things should work but I blame the school's incompetence for the situation rather than the students, who feel completely unsupported by the administration. |
