That's an uh...interesting take. It's probably best to just leave it alone... |
It’s spreading at a lively clip. |
Except the 7 day average is going down.... You guys say stuff like this without any basis in fact. It's 'surging' despite it just decreased a level. It's worse than winter! Despite the fact that are cases are about 1/3 of what they were in Jan/Feb Hospitals are at capacity. Despite the fact that MoCo has room in the ER, and ICU, and only averaging about 18-19 people in the ICU, out of our county of 1.1 million. Stop with the rhetoric. Turn off CNN, and read the local news. Or, at the very least, look at our local dashboard, and don't pay any attention to what's happening in FL, TX, or LA. It has no bearing on us in MoCo |
It appears to be accurate. |
Oh it does have bearing- it’s our future unless everyone cuts out their selfish actions pronto. Might already be too late. This is delta we are talking about, not the OG covid. |

Everyone claiming that Montgomery County is justified in creating a policy like no other jurisdiction and that is completely different from CDC recommendations on quarantining students because "we're not testing" is so bloody full of it. The CDC does not call for mandatory weekly testing of everyone. It specifically says adults/guardians need to consent to testing, and even suggests testing of young children may not be possible.
You may for whatever reason think this policy makes sense. But in no universe is it consistent with CDC guidelines. Montgomery County ALWAYS has to do everything by itself and ignore everyone else and it usually isn't better, and is often worse, than what other jurisdictions do. Flouting national public health authorities that recognize the importance of in-person learning may have been something that people accepted during the Trump administration but it doesn't fly now. |
How? How does it have bearing? A community which is thousands of miles away with low vax rate and no mask compliance? How does that have any bearing on our community, one with high vax rates and mask compliance? And before you tell me "people travel". Trust me, nobody from Texas is vacationing in Montgomery County |
Also, at the very least, even if you support these policies or want another lockdown, at least be honest. Because when you say things like "its surging" or "its as bad as winter" YOU. ARE. LYING. You're lying. So try to find a way to make a case without lying |
Is it? Montgomery County covid dashboard says: 92.51 new cases per 100,000 residents (seven-day average), declining 2.7% test positivity (seven-day average), declining -7.6% change in cases compared to previous seven-day period (i.e., declining) 71.7% of hospital in patient beds occupied 74.0% of hospital ICU beds in use 8.8% of hospital beds occupied by patients with covid https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/covid19/data/#dashboard |
Shhh....don't let facts get in the way of the narrative. THE SKY IS FALLING!! |
| New to the thread, but to be fair, these rates are far higher than they were over summer. I used to check my zipcode all the time and the cases were at like 20/100,000. 92.5 may be declining from last week, but it is much higher than last month. |
The ‘shut it down’ crowd doesn’t deal in facts. They usually don’t even read the stories they link (see ‘CDC guidance’ dingbat above). They traffic purely in ignorance and hysteria. |
Yes, county-wide, the case rate is now slightly higher than it was in April. The positivity rate is the same as at the end of April, and so is the percent of hospital beds occupied by covid patients. |
| I wish someone would create a simple flow sheet based on CDC guidance and email it to the BOE |
| Everyone your letters worked! MCPS and the BOE asking DHHS to revise and clarify the policy |
