You have to give the new French guy credit for having to take on this mess and bring some sanity to the situation. If he survives the first year the prospects for FCV will be much better. This is a rough crowd. This is not a situation that he created. |
They're trusting their word vs public announcements. Sure, they announced CC, JJ, and MJ but nothing has shown WHO they're assigned to. Just verbal discussions between the leadership and players they're recruiting. |
So who are they saying in those discussions will be coaching each of the GA years? |
Can we please get a field announcement! |
If I were that parent I would be requesting a refund from the club asap |
This sounds like an FCV (old girls director) tactic. Lived this with him. |
understatement of the year |
But he didn't bring some sanity. He stirred the pot even more..... He's walking into a mess for sure. I wonder how much AB told him ahead of time? |
“Great opportunity to lead a GA program with a top notch track record, just need to manage a few minor headwinds (no coaches, players, of fields).” |
Can someone give me the short and sweet on what’s going on with FCV? |
For a long time, they practiced at Evergreen Sportsplex in Loudoun County. FCV was acquired by The St James. They continued to practice at Evergreen. Evergreen was sold to another club who continued to honor their existing lease for field space (other FCV teams are also practicing at Hanson Park, Bles, etc.). TSJ seems to have been oblivious to what this meant for the future. Fast forward, CC and several FCV coaches announce that they're leaving to go work at this other club. BP leaves for VDA. The other club, despite having a small number of very poorly performing girls teams in EDP and NCSL, is suddenly accepted into the GA for next year. FCV coaches are trying to convince their existing FCV GA teams to come to their new club. TSJ promotes AB and announces that they plan to continue FCV and they're hiring a new GA staff (only a few coaches are introduced and it seems like one of them may have since backed out). No official announcements have been made by TSJ re: field space for next year but some things have been rumored. FCV and the other club both hold GA tryouts the same week trying to get players to accept offers before ECNL ID sessions officially begin on 3/1. And here we are, in a very brief nutshell. |
* forgot to add that the other club also told FCV that after this year, they would no longer be offering them field space so as to squeeze them out of the market. |
It seems like TSJ should have seen the field space issue coming a long time ago. Right? |
I don't see him stirring the pot. He's genuinely tried to help re-establish the girls program. Remember this didn't really impact boys side. He also has a track record of winning teams, just like the coach that left. There are still many questions to be answered by both clubs if they want to have competitive teams. |
They did. Promises were made and never fulfilled from when tsj night FCV, like facilities and just plain home fields. The mass exit was not out of nowhere for staff. It's sad; but they loudoun side wasn't really treated much worse than the Fairfax side on field space shortages that continues on. |
