Is there anywhere within a commutable distance of DC that has a small town feel?
Have to head into downtown DC office 2 days a week so willing to have a longer commute, but nothing like 2 hours. Schools are important but don’t need to be the absolute top- only have 1 kid so private could be an option if needed. Budget up to $750k ish. |
| Townhouse? Single house? |
| chevy chase- specifically martins addition, whenever its summer and i see people walking down brookville (yes i know it can get busy) and hoards of kids having ice cream at olympia cafe i always think about the midwest town i grew up in, or cute NE beach towns. feels safe, tucked away, but close to everything. |
For $750K? What could the OP find there, someone’s shed? |
| Poolesville, Maryland is best option. Great schools, not too far from city, small town feel, great housing options for 750k. |
| You could get a TH in the Winter Hill section of Falls Church City. Lots of families, lots within walking distance. |
| Vienna near the metro. Townhouses |
| City of Falls Church or the outer burbs of Baltimore. |
| Annapolis |
| I think this is hard to find in the DC metro area due to county run government and schools. |
| Kensington |
If you could do private schools the following places in PG are inside the beltway and have a "small town feel". Cheverly/Old Greenbelt/Hyattsville (Arts District area)/University Park/Riverdale Park/Mt Rainer. My kids are in public school here but we are open to the idea that we may need to go private for middle or high school. |
| Kensington or Garrett Park. Both actually small towns. |
| Del Ray in Alexandria. |
