Infertility Support and Discussion
|
I know there has been much discussion on Pre seed but I couldn't find this answer. My husband doesn't want to use it b/c it is not FDA approved (yes, he is a little biased so don't waste your time in saying the FDA approval isn't the be all end all, I agree). My question is does anyone know if it is FDA approved, why it is not, is there one that is OR has anyone's doctor actually recommended its use?
OPK's -- best one you have used and best time or method of testing? thanks |
I can't comment on the former, but regarding OPKs I've been using CVS strips first thing in the morning (The strips that you have to dip in a cup, not the plastic enclosed sticks). They're spot on - I chart as well. I found when using the other one-step kinds that you pee on, that they were more effective later in the day. No idea why, as I think they're the same. Anyways, I never managed to go three hours without going to the bathroom, so I found those to be less easy to use.
I use the same CVS test strips and really like them. We started using pre-seed this cycle too - I actually shared the same concerns about FDA approval/doctor recommendation but finally threw caution to the wind and gave it a shot. (I haven't yet asked my doctor about it). We are in 2ww, so have no idea whether it worked. FWIW, it's sold at Rodman's drugstore in DC for about $12 (much cheaper than buying online). I figured if it was sold at a local drugstore, it probably isn't harmful - though I realize that's less than stellar logic! Good luck!
OP, just saw my ob/gyn today and he said it was fine to use pre-seed. Fwiw, my acupuncturist said the same.
Other than Rodmans and online, where else can you buy PreSeed?
There's a pharmacy in the same building as Shady Grove in Rockville that carries it.
Any place in NoVa?
I found the Rockville location last fall by checking out the preseed website. There were NoVa locations, but I don't recall precisely where. More in NoVa than MD.
I've seen Preseed at Preston's Pharmacy on Lee Hwy.
