I want to put together a food and wine gift basket to ship to my ILs for Christmas. Picking wine is easy, but would appreciate any thoughts on foods to include that will ship well. Favorite brands would also be appreciated. I'm not good at this stuff. Champagne plus chocolates and nuts? Red wine plus crackers and ??

Shipping wine can be a bit problematic. Each state has independent laws about the shipping of alcohol from out of state, and wine is best shipped in insulated containers designed for the bottles. [Wine can also be damaged by temperatures above 80.]
You might consider looking for a wine store in the vicinity of your ILs. Wine-searcher.com gives options for searching by zip code and the radius around a zip code. Some wine stores will deliver. Some stores will ship within state. They may have some food and wine gift already set up. Winefolly.com is a great resource for food/wine pairings to give you some ideas. Frankly, the shelf stable ingredients for a pasta dish are pretty classic components of a wine gift basket. |

Yes it’s worth checking shipping restrictions. Many states (MD for example) allow wine shipments direct from the winery, but not say from Total Wine.
I’d order one of the amazing gift baskets from diBruno brothers and maybe a gift card to a local wine store in their area. |
| Thanks for the feedback! They're in FL, and I've been able to send wine there before, but I will see if a wine store near them can put something together for me, which would certainly be easier! |
