Moving within APS

Anonymous
If we move within APS during school year, can my kid stay in the same school/class through the end of the academic - even if the new address is not within the original school boundary? It's not like we are moving to a different county, we will continue to pay Arlington taxes. Is there a process to make this happen? Or it this super strict? Thank you for any tips! This would be his last year in elementary (not an option school). Thank you.

IIRC, you can stay at the school if you move in the 4th quarter. Before that, I believe you need principal approval to stay. But I can't find where I read that information.

Not super strict. You just talk with your principal.

It really depends on your school and their capacity.

When did you last show proof of residency? I think you only have to show once a year or maybe once every two years.

Yes this is not a big deal, you can stay.
