Increase in nanny pay for 2022?

Our wonderful nanny is planning to return to a school based job. She had an interview that she did not pass and while she’s not actively applying now, she’s open to opportunities to go back to a school setting. She took a break during COVID and has been our nanny for the past year. As we know that she wants to go back to her original career, we have signed up the child for daycare for next April / May. So we would only work together for 3-4 months in 2022.

That said, we are not sure if we will be comfortable sending him there if there is no COVID vaccine by that point for under 2s and if she wanted to stay longer with us, we’d be open to her staying with us for a few additional months.

As such, should we increase her pay rate at the end of the year or just simply offer a nice Christmas (monetary) gift?

If you don’t increase her pay by the rate of inflation, it’s a py cut.

No nanny job is forever. Yes, increase her pay as if she’s going to stay.
