part-time options for a 12mo or 18 mo old

Anonymous
Hi, I plan to be at home with my ds for the first year. After that, I want him to get more social interaction with other kids. I can then go back to work part-time. Besides intown-type playgroups (which I have to attend) or daycare, are there any other options? Any early preschools or daycares that are very good for toddlers? If you have been in the same boat, what did you do? Or did you go the playgroup or daycare route?

CCBC has a drop-off program for 18 mos olds a few days a week, but they only take 6 kids and I think it's mostly siblings of current preschool students. I heard Aidan takes 18 mos olds. Younger than that, it's either daycare or the playgroups (you can send a sitter/nanny).

Depending where you live there may be parents' morning out programs where you can send your child one or more mornings a week.

I'd look for a nanny-share with a similar-aged child.
