We are considering applying for rising 4th and 7th grade for next SY 2022-2023
4 questions: 1. Are these grade years that might have more openings at Potomac? 2. What is homework level like at 7th grade? how many hours per night is expected? 3. Is testing required this admissions year for these grades? 4. Do we have a better chance of admissions if we applied for both grades or just 7th grade? (Our 4th grader is very articulate and may be more impressive to an admissions person during interview process than our 7th grader) Thanks! |
| You might have a better chance at 4th grade but I am curious what others who go there think about 7th and amount of homework? |

4th is easiest year because many public school kids are already set with their schools. Seventh is an expansion year but not by much and seems like all of those kids have some
sort of talent that sets them apart so not just grades. I would apply both kids but make a point that they view each as individual and you will not base your acceptance on both getting in. Have no idea on current testing. Seventh grade homework is more than sixth but not terrible. High school is a ton of work and this is where kids leave. You cannot be happy at the high school without being okay with pressure. |

4th is somewhat of an expansion year. 7th definitely is.
7th ("IS") was not too bad for homework. Less than 2 hours certainly. Testing required for all years. Unsure - my anecdotal experience is that the fact that it is two instead of one does not matter because of the volume of applicants. |
The testing question is specifically answered on their website. Have you looked at it? |
