Fresh cooked cranberries on vanilla ice cream

Wow this is delicious! All I did was boil and simmer fresh cranberries (no sweetener) and put it on some vanilla ice cream. So sweet and tart.

Thanks for sharing, sounds delicious! I might try this with a bit of orange zest maybe.

Sounds a little too bracing for me, OP, but I’m glad you found a combo you love! You must be one of those people who loves frisée and radicchio, too!

Ice cream, particularly vanilla ice cream, with cooked fruit is a pairing that should be more popular than it is. I'm not sure why it doesn't get the attention it should, given it's such an easy and natural combination.

Ice cream and hot cooked berries is a thing where I lived in Europe. I love it with blackberries.

Ice cream has so much stuff in it nowadays that it doesn’t need toppings, plus chocolate is so seductive (even when it isn’t very good) and squeezing a bottle is a lot easier than making even a simple fruit sauce.

I’ve gotten way into nuts in my ice cream and am now convinced that Tin Roof ice cream was a genius idea and I’m sorry it seems to have disappeared.

I use my cranberry sauce all the time (cranberries cooked in orange juice, brown sugar and port) after Thanksgiving with vanilla ice cream. Delicious!!!
