Anne Arundel Superintendent Contract not renewed

Anonymous
Wow. The BoE didn't renew Arlotto's contract.
He wasn't perfect but I thought he handled the last two years as well as anyone else did. And more importantly, this Board has shown themselves to be nearly impossible to work with, inefficient, and ineffective. What Super is going to want to work with them? Are they at all capable of conducting a real search?
This is going to be a mess.

Newsflash: It's already a mess

I thought they would have tried to do at least a one year contract extension. I think he’s done the best he could this year. We’ve only got one more year before my dd graduates but they are going to have a hard time filling that role with someone good.

Seriously? I don't live in AA County, but I follow all of the local school boards. I thought that he was doing a decent job.

He was pushing back against closures and not walking lockstep with the teachers association.
And the BOE is awful.

Yup.
I thought an elected board would be a good thing. I was wrong.
