I came across this old name (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethlyn_T._Clough for example). Thoughts?
What?
My apothecary was out of Ethlyn.
Do you like it as a baby name or too old-fashioned or weird?
Come on! Come on!!! You're joking right?
Any science minded person = Ethyl. Like ethyl alcohol
Yep ethyl alcohol is my first thought
Makes me think of Ethel from I Love Lucy.
Sounds like ethylene, the chemical compound.
|
Alternatives:
Methlyn Propalyn Butalyn Pentalyn Hexlyn Then there’s the ever popular Octalyn. |
Nope. Come on.
Fill 'er up with Ethyln, please.
If a boy, go with Ethanol. More unique than Ethan.
I have never heard it before, so based on the sound it doesn't strike me as "old fashioned," it strikes me as taking an actual old fashioned name (Ethel) and trying to modernize it with the overpopular "-lyn" suffix.
Another vote for Octalyn but full name Octavia Lynn, Octalyn for short.
