| DD is a 2008 and has a goal of playing in college. I'm not looking for an ECNL vs. GA debate...just a ballpark of what either of them cost annually in high school once you factor in travel to showcases, additional private training, etc. In other words, for players at this level, what are you spending annually on soccer? Thank you. |
$5-10k annually. The biggest expense is the travel and how clubs handle the travel aspect. Team training fees are all around 3k. The travel expense changes over the years as younger kids don't really do showcases but Freshman through Junior years are the most expensive and travel heavy. |
| GA is dead. I wouldn't waste my time there if ECNL is an option. |
I think $5-10k is a pretty good estimate for both ECNL. Towards the lower end at U13. Towards the higher end at U17. Depends also on your standards for private training. I expect that GA is also in the same range. It's the showcases that drive the cost the most so it can vary depending on how aggressive your club is. |

Typo above. And before the critics weigh in, yes it is rediculous.

ECNL
season fees to be $3k - $3500 Futsal. Perhaps $250 Always shoes and when adult shoes hit that’s $200 pair Travel for kid and one parent easily $1500 per trip via plane and there are probably 1/2 of those until they are 16 then there are 3 trips. Add both parents and increase by 1/3 Any camps? Any private lessons? Minimal $9k above and when older easily $10k and upwards. I know people that have committed to private lessons and camps that shell out $20k+ especially when you start paying for ID camps It’s not just ECNL that’s the cost it’s the entire effort |
If anyone is paying close to 20,000………lol….I would be speechless 😶 |

ECNL. My kid.
$2,600 for club fee (coaches, fields, league) $200-300 for unis, sweats, etc. $2,000 to $2,500 for travel (hotel / flights / rental car) So around $5k to $5.5k depending on proximity if national events. Usually at least one within driving distance and a couple far enough to fly to. Nowhere near $10k. Compared to “normal” travel maybe $1 to 2k more total. |
| + team fees + outside training |
| + Id camps + futsal + unofficial visits |
| 2008 is u14? You need ecnl at u16 and u17. If cost is an issue...those are the most important years. You also need to ditch all the "deals" through the approved travel company because they literally could not negotiate their way out of a paper bag. You can do better in 5 minutes on-line. |
No team fees for my ECNL club. Outside training is not an ECNL exclusive cost and it is optional. Apples to apples folks. |
ID Camps, futsal, and visits are all optional and again are not exclusive to ECNL. The title of this thread is not, “how much could you spend on soccer if you really try hard,” it is how much does ECNL cost. It is implied that OP meant apart from nonECNL travel options. Futsal, extra training, ID camps, nicer shoes, staying in expensive hotels, flying instead of driving, etc. are all optional and all not required for ECNL play. Bare bones it is $5-6k. |
| My response would be that if the goal is to play in college, those add-ons are not optional for most players. |
| When does everyone have time for outside training in ECNL? We have practice 4 days a week and a game or two on the weekend. Season goes from the beginning of August to mid December, then beginning of January until beginning of July. Training costs have actually gone down with ECNL because we don't have time for extra training. |
