Ivf over 40 - share your stats?

Anonymous
Im considering IVF or IUIs at 43. I'm aware of the disadvantages of my age. For those who have done IVF or IUIs over 40, can you share your treatment, stats (age, amh, fsh or anything else relevant) and your results?

Straight to IVF. What are your numbers? AFC/AMH/FSH

Not sure about afc. Amh is 2.2, fsh is 6. I'm a lesbian so theres not any trying to get pregnant outside of ART. Had a child at 39 who was conceived relatively quickly.

Have you had any children before? If not, do donor egg if you’ve tried for 6 months already.

I did one IVF cycle at 41 (after conceiving fairly easily at 39) and my results were not great: 24 eggs, 14 mature, 6 embryos and one low level mosaic (still on ice), five abnormals. I had excellent stats (AFC 19, AMH 2.5, FSH 7) but I wish I had absorbed the full impact of age before proceeding. Good luck OP.

Similar stats to PP but I got one normal out of 6 at 42 and I’m presently 17+2. I was prepared to try 3 rounds then consider donor eggs. I had no indication for IVF other than age and have two older children as well, which I think does help somewhat.

This. Odds are dismal for natural, iui and ivf at 43

This is probably more useful than anecdotal experiences on this forum.

I did two rounds of IVF for secondary infertility at 40, had a decent number of eggs retrieved and fertilized, but out of 6 that made it to day 5 (over the two cycles), none were genetically normal. Was gearing up for round 3 and got pregnant naturally, 19 weeks now.

We did way too many rounds (with no success) of IVF from 40-42 trying for our first. In a DE cycle now. Wish I had moved to DE earlier.

At 40, AMH was around 0.85, FSH was 16, not sure about AFC. Did 6 IUIs. First IVF retrieval was canceled due to low response. Upon second round of stimulation, 9 mature eggs were retrieved, of which 2 were normal. One live birth, who will be our only child.

Good luck OP.

Same. And my numbers looked good on paper…

I don't remember what my numbers were. I was told my AMH was really high and equivalent to that of someone in her thirties - I did two cycles of IVF and got pregnant on the second cycle at 43. That said, the odds are low and we were planning to move to DE if we did a third cycle.

I went up the elevator on the day of my egg retrieval with two very young women - they looked to be college aged - one woman was their to support her friend who was donating and freezing her eggs and she had 40+ eggs to be retrieved while I had 10 that day. It made me realize that donor egg was the way to go.

I am 44 I think older than the whole universe who is trying to make a baby. Did the first round of IVF one embryo was successful to make it to the end. Got it transferred, but invain. I will start my second round.
