My Thanksgiving meal was a flop

I tried my hand at foie-gras stuffing and it tasted like gum found at the bottom of a junior high desk.
My turkey was dry as leather and no amount of gravy could conceal it.
My apple pie was gluey and tasteless, and my husband told me so.
I spent all day slaving and nobody ate much. I am very annoyed.

I'm sorry OP. It happens. DH and I have made Thanksgiving dinner for the last 30 years. We have had a few fails. Did you learn some lessons for next year?

Sorry, op! Sometimes things work, and sometimes they don’t. Sorry yesterday was a “they don’t” day for you. Pull out whatever lessons you can, and hopefully next year will be better!

That sounds terrible. Xmas is just around the corner so maybe you can redeem yourself then.

Everything turned out good at mine except the turkey. I’m trying again Sunday because I really love turkey. We will laugh at this in the upcoming years.

Make notes on your recipes! It’s easy to think you’ll never forget, but it really helps to make notes each time that something is particularly good or goes wrong. My pecan pies are normally great – but this time I literally threw it away instead of serving.

I’m sorry

I bought an expensive turkey at WF not fresh. Not edible.

This is why I buy from a restaurant.

I did the same from Mom’s, previous years were great, this one was bad

I’m sorry. It sounds like you overreached. Foie gras stuffing???
Also, unless you are a skilled baker, outsourcing your pies is best.

Keep it simple. Sometimes it seems the harder you try, the worse the outcome. Kudos for attempting fois gras stuffing and homemade pie.

My thoughts too!

And if you're going to attempt this type of thing, do a test-run prior to Thanksgiving (or at least ask dcum for pro tips).

It's okay. It's just one meal. I know it can be annoying to spend that much time cooking and end up having a bad result. You've earned a break today.
