What are your go to shoes for HIIT workouts that have a lot of jumping, plyometrics, sprints, lateral movements, burpees, etc.
I’m having a hard time finding a shoe that gives good lateral support, doesn’t push my toes too far forward, it is still cushioned and shock absorbing for a lot of jumping and sprints but flexible enough for planks and burpees. |
| I just got nike metcons and love love love them. If you normally size .5 up for running shoes, size up a whole size for these. Get one of the newer models though- they have better reviews. |

21:13 here. These are the ones I got

Are those good for actual jumping cardio? Not just weight lifting and squats? |
| Love my adidas ultraboost for HIIT. Also have been wanting to try On Cloud - husband says amazing. |
This is OP. I actually don’t like the ON Clouds. Tons of people have them and I’m convinced they only buy them because they see other people wearing them, so they must be good. But they feel flimsy and cheap to me. Zero padding around you get Or opening |
| I use ON's, but not sure which version. I went to Road Runner Sports and got fitted for shoes and insoles done. It made a huge difference. It's worth it to go to an actual store and try things on and talk to the salesperson, in my opinion. |
| I'm the metcon poster. Yes- I do a workout that is like if crossfit and orangetheory got married. Lots of jumps, on top and over things. I don't like on clouds. Not enough support |
| Another vote for metcons. its been hard for me to find the right size though in the newer models. They have Womens, men’s, and unisex online and all seem to have a different fit. I’ve just sent 3 pair back and kept my old pair. |
| I have Ryka cross training shoes that I like. I think they're called the Devotion XT. |
| I like the Nike Free Metcons but they do wear out quickly. I got mine in July and both shoes have holes in them. |
I just got the Nike Metcon 7 for HIIT classes and they seem way too stiff. I feel like my foot is squeezed in because the sides are so hard. I'm not loving them. I'm trying to break them in to see if that will help, but so far it's a regret. |
| Do you like flexibility and cushion or a wider, stable base? I prefer a very stable base and minimal cushion; I get heel and low back pain from too much cushion. Something about foot strike. Metcons strike the perfect balance for stability and support for me; I even wear them for tennis. |
I agree |
Same. So sick of seeing those shoes! I find them oddly irritating on top of cheap. Same reaction to Hokas. They remind me of the moon boots I wore as a kid; my mom bought them after I begged and begged and once I had them I was miserable. |
