Need recommendation for chocolate birthday cake

Anonymous
Hello. We just moved to this area and my son's birthday is coming up and he wants a chocolate cake with white frosting?
We live in Chevy Chase. Do you have any suggestions- bakery or grocery store? I am not looking for anything fancy, just a
good moist cake. Thank you in advance!

Yeah, this one is solid and perfect for a kid party. We make icing in the mixer blending butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and I like cream cheese, too. Faster than running to the store for canned frosting.

Both Harris Teeter and Wegmans have good cakes.

I’d get that at Harris Teeter.

If you are willing to drive to Rockville, Sunflower Bakery makes great birthday cakes (and cookies) and has a terrific mission. https://www.sunflowerbakery.org/

Safeway has a surprisingly good bakery!

Safeway and Giant cakes are actually pretty good. My daughter likes Giant's bettercreme frosting, and they will absolutely make chocolate with white frosting. Safeway also makes a good cake with decent frosting.

Store: Costco.
Home: Texas sheetcake. Super fast to make, super moist, can make a day ahead, and fun to decorate.

I love Wegman’s chocolate cake and their decorating is very good.
