Infertility Support and Discussion
| I have an appointment with the famous Dr. Davis at Cornell on Monday. I am 41 with 1 prior terminated pregnancy due to fatal defect and 2 failed IVF attempts. Has anyone been sucessful with Dr. Davis after having no success down here? |

I've posted my story here before so it may be familiar to regular readers of this board. I had 3 failed IVFs at SG at age 33. During the 3rd attempt, I had 13 eggs retrieved, about 7 were mature but only 2 fertilized and only 1 was still alive and available for transfer. After that my doctor (widra) said that he thoguht my best bet was donor eggs.
We then saw Dr Davis who looked at my stim grid (I hight recommend bringing your latest stim grid with you and walking through it with him, even though you've already sent him for full file) and said he thought that SG had kept me on too high of a dose of stims for too long. As you may know, Dr Davis is a master at tapering stims to get an optimal result. he also used the EPP on me which I had never tried before and we did co-culture. During out Cornell cycle, we had 13 eggs retrieved, 10 were mature, 8 fertilized, and we transfered two "perfect" 8 celled embryoes. I am now 11 weeks pregnant with twins. The cost was about $15,000 not including drugs or housing in NYC. |

Not a success story with the famed Dr. Davis.
Having said that, I still think he's a pretty good doctor. If you have age-related issues (bad eggs mainly), there's little that Dr. Davis can do. |
| PP 11:12 here. I agree with the other PP. Dr Davis is great, but he doesn't have a magic wand or a time machine. That said, he was very honest with us during our consult -- he talked about what he would do differently why it might (and might not) work. I got the impression that if he thought a patient's odds were slim, he'd let her know. Personally, I think it's worth going for a consult and trying to get him to be as honest with you as possible (we basically told him that a cycle at Cornell would be a huge emotional and financial leap for us asked if he thought our chances were good enough to make it worth it). |

After 3 failed cycles down here we cycled up in NYC with CRMI (different RE though) and finally found success. We also just did a FET up there and so far it looks like this cycle has worked as well.
The REs really fine tune the protocols & the lab is great. I'd definitely recommend a consult (at a minimum) for anyone with multiple failures. |
| I had 2 failed cycles at SG and was also told to use DE. I then got pregnant on my first cycle with Dr. Davis. I did co-culture, stimmed for less days than at SG and with lower doses of the medications. So I definitely think it is worthwhile going up there. |
